This is the third edition of the orange book. It covers GLSL and entry points from OpenGL As usual the book is part tutorial, part reference. Very well written, clear and concise. Check out the companion site. More information about this title at or Wolfgang Engel (editor in chief of the ShaderX series) kindly sent me copies of the two ShaderX^2 books last year, so that I could read through them and reference useful articles in writing the third edition of Real-Time Rendering (RTR3).He also provided us with the contents of the then-unpublished ShaderX^6 – he was a huge help in making RTR3 up-to-date.
ShaderX3 is an excellent book, but probably not for beginners. You'll definitely want to have HLSL down before picking this up. That said, the techniques presented in this book are explained well, and the source code is easy to work your way through.
